Murder! at the Red Light Cafe is a semi-improvised burlesque murder mystery show, set at a burlesque show at the Red Light Cafe.

 Casting Call for Murder! at The Red Light Cafe

Casting 8-14 roles for a semi-improvised burlesque murder mystery show, which will require rehearsals in advance of the show date (18 April 2020).

Essentially, the story explores a series of murders that affect a burlesque show at Red Light Cafe. The cast will play roles ranging from producers to dancers to fanatical audience members. All roles are written as gender neutral.

Interested persons can audition for any or all of the following roles:

  • The Producer: A self-absorbed bully.

  • The MC: A kind, odd person addicted to the narcotic effects of pastie glue.

  • Iggy: The coproducer/choreographer, formerly a religious zealot.

  • The Knockout: A mysteriously familiar stranger, new to town.

  • The Superfan: A regular, who is in love with one of the dancers.

  • Freddie: A dancer. The Producer won Freddie as the prize in an assel twirl-off against Freddie’s mentor.

  • Muffley: A LUBER driver who runs the raffle. Partner to Kit.

  • Kit: The stagehand. Partner to Muffley.

  • Paris: The gossip. Not in the troupe, but regularly attends.

  • Tommie: The edibles supplier to The Producer, who owes them money.

  • AA: The costumer/makeup artist.

  • Experience: Regular patron and medical professional.

  • Sam: The piano player/musician.

  • Aurora: A standout variety performer, who may or may not have stolen money from Experience.
